So Sorry......

A cool saturday morning...nothing was really pushing me except the long long list of To-Dos.... these were the things I had postponed on and on for few weeks er,... months now... so I promised myself that I am atleast going to make a start ...... lest I would be doomed .... so I set out....

I quickly browsed my list and then I started with the easiest one... ( atleast that's what I thought before starting it... ).. The task was to unsubscribe to a free online service provider ...I just had to make a call .... what happened is history and is nailed in my memory......

Me: I am XYZ, wanted to unsubscribe to this particular service...

Voice with accent: You have subscribed to so and so offer... it is free for 3 more months... You need not worry.

Me: Yeah I know, but I dont want this now.. Could you unsubscribe me ?

Voice with accent: Did you know that we have some additional things we can offer you... ?

Me: Is it ?

Voice with accent: Shall I tell you about the details ?

Me: No, thanks. just unsubscribe please.

Voice with accent: It will take a min.. may be you will find this useful

Me(giving in): Ok.

Voice with accent ( without accent intermittently): Blah Blah .....

Me: Thanks, but really I just wanted to unsubscribe...
( By this time I realised that the voice was of an Indian girl faking an accent...I guess she too realised that yours truly is an Indian tooo. But owing to business etiquette she never referred and owing to some false pride of being in a phoren place, me too never posed the question)

Voice without accent: We want to again let you know that this offer is completely free.. for 3 months... you can try it ...

Me(How could I explain to her that this was on of my top To Dos and the easy ones .. and I had to get this done... lest I might forget): No please.

Voice without accent ( The voice seems to crack and is as if on the verge of crying!!): This is free.. you can unsubscribe later... (pleadingly)

Me(May be shedoesnt know how planned I am .. If I miss today I may never remember this . I had to do this..) in a stern voice: Could you just unsubscribe me please....?????

Voice without accent and almost wailing: This offer is unique ... blah blah...

Me(now loosing it): I have really no time for this... I need to unsubscribe

Voice without accent and almost wailing: OK sir. I am unsubscribing you to this offer.

Me(relieved that 1 To do is done . Hurray!!) : Thanks for the info....

Voice without accent and almost wailing: We look forward to serving you.. blah blah.

Call End.

After I ended the call, I couldnot help but think of the voice on the other side.
Why did the voice quiver and plead.. ?
Do they have some count as to how many customers they lose ?
Will my cancellation effect the person's rating ??
Shouldnt I have been more considerate and not unsubscribe ( remember I had 3 months more) ?
Did I give her a bad time..?
May be this is her first day at work ?

But I couldnt help it.. I thought... it was to be...

what I could DO is say sorry ... which is why this post is!!

Music and Memories.

Hm.. If you are looking for a comparison between the performance of Apple IPod,Creative's Nomad and Dell's Jukebox and their memories... well thats not what I am going to do here today....

Its about what I plug into my ears and what the stuff "between" my ears thinks of it..... Intro stops and story begins.... read on....

I was wondering how our sweet little memory links music to the events around us in time and place... like when you hear a beautiful SRK number, you surely will have some memories flashing... the first time you heard or the ppl who were with you when you heard it.. some events that were taking place around that time in your life... some happy and may be some not so happy.. but you will surely have something of note.. right ?? Atleast thats what I feel about lot many songs... let me place few facts to substantiate my claim!!!!!!

1.Chood Aaye Hum Voh Galiya from Maachis -- Reminds me of my 10th grade exams. I used to hum this song while cycling for my school....

2. Dil to Pagal Hai -- The days of Deepavali at my cousins' place.. the fun and frolic... that masti...

3. Har Ghadi from Kal Ho Na Ho -- The days of my training of my first job... the cool breeze ... Kerala... Coconuts... Kovalam..New Frens... Beaches... some bad memories at home...

4. Do Pal of VeerZaara -- The best days at Noida... with my dear frens.. those long walks sometimes lonely, sometimes with frens... listening music on FM stations...

5. Lagi Tumse Mann Ki Lagan of Paap -- The first time I was under the knife.. the operation... love of all my frens ... their nightouts to take care of me....

6. Songs from Manmadhudu ( translates to Cupid in Telugu!!) and Okkadu -- Life of engg at Vizag .... sharing ear phones with frens.. having fun...

A little list of songs and my memories......................... there are thousand more...

Do you have something similar ? Share !!!!

How are you ?

If someone asks you this question while on phone, on the corridor or on the stairs , whats your response going to be ???

"hmm not bad....." (in a monotonous voice...)
"good.. and you... " (in a subdued tone)

Did you ever think of giving these responses:

"FFantaaastic and how about you "
"Excellent and how are you doing today!!!! "

These responses will surely raise some eyebrows, wake up your listener to you, might make him feel good by the energy you transmitted through your talk and finally will certainly make YOU feel better... much better... dont believe me .. just try it....!! It works... (its not really a new thing that I am proposing here.. One of my good friend told me this from a self help lecture he had attended..)

Whatever you term this kind of response.... I would coin it as "Just be BULLISH on life" sometimes atleast ;-)
