Lest we forget!

There are lot of things that the Indian culture boasts of, but as it has been often said - we tend to forget the richness, greatness of our heritage. So when a thought about one of the things I have always been fascinated flashed in my mind, I knew what exactly to do - Blog it :-) !

The thought was "Avadhaanam". Avadhaanam is a sanskrit word meaning - "Concentration". This is a literary feat which WAS famous in Andhra and Karnataka. Avadhaanams have traditionally been staged in poetry, music, dance, astrology, chess and mathematics. A person who performs this literary feat is called "Avadhaani" - meaning a person who has the ability to handle a number of literary tasks at the same time.
